Easier Newsletters by Andrew Hill

Guide for version 1.2.0 · WordPress 6.4+ · PHP 8.1+

Manage subscribers, lists, campaigns, automations and reports in WordPress. Messages are sent through the delivery provider you choose; its limits and charges still apply.

Paid plugin; a valid Freemius licence is required for the application.

Install and license

Upload and activate the supplied ZIP, then activate your Freemius licence. Open Newsletters. Review Settings for your sender name, sender email, business postal address and subscription preferences. Give team members only the access they need.

Set up email delivery

Open Sending and select Amazon SES, Brevo, Mailgun, SendGrid, Postmark, SMTP or WordPress mail. Enter the settings for that provider and send a test email. Follow your provider’s domain-verification instructions and confirm the sender is authorised. Set sending limits within your provider’s allowance. Background sending needs working WordPress scheduled tasks; ask your host to check cron if queued messages do not progress.

Create a list and signup form

Create a list, then a signup form under Forms. Add it using the provided block, widget or shortcode; uses form 12. Configure double opt-in and the confirmation, unsubscribe and preference pages. Test the entire journey with a new address: signup, confirmation, receipt, preferences and unsubscribe. The default list is also used by integrations that do not select a specific list.

Import subscribers

Use Import & Export, map email and other CSV columns, and verify the intended list and subscription status. The signup_date field accepts timestamps, ISO dates and day-first dates. Start with a small sample. Keep unsubscribed, bounced and pending people in their proper states; do not convert an old suppression list into active subscribers. WordPress-user imports are supported, but having a website account is not the same as opting into marketing.

Create and send a campaign

Open Campaigns and start from a bundled or saved template. Edit the content visually or use the HTML option. Insert merge tags using the application controls, choose recipients and use previews, test sends and the pre-send check. Check links, mobile layout, sender details and the unsubscribe link. Send a small internal test before scheduling a large campaign. Save a useful design as a template for later campaigns.

Segments and automations

Segments group subscribers using details and activity. Automations can provide welcome sequences, follow-ups, new-post/RSS messages and birthday emails, with waits and branches. Suggested recipes create draft workflows and messages: review their content, recipients, timing and conditions before activating them. A tag or list action from CRM can start the corresponding newsletter workflow.

WooCommerce coupons

The coupon merge tag can create a single-use WooCommerce coupon tied to the recipient’s email during a real send. WooCommerce must be active. Configure amount, type, expiry and a fallback using the supported tag controls or syntax. A preview or test is not proof that a live coupon has been issued: check a controlled real send and the coupon in WooCommerce before using it in a promotion.

Reports, privacy and troubleshooting

Use Reports for delivery activity, opens, clicks, bounces and complaints. Opens are approximate because mail clients may block images or fetch them automatically. Subscribers are stored on your site; your delivery provider receives the data needed to send mail, and optional open/click tracking adds further processing. Review your privacy notice and retention settings. If sending stalls, check the queue, provider response and cron. If the dashboard is inaccessible, check the licence and team permissions. Back up subscriber data and settings before updates or bulk imports.
