Sir Peter Soulsby, the self-serving Labour mayor who has been a parasite of city finances for over a decade has declared that Leicester City Council is likely to declare bankruptcy next quarter, but it’s OK because councillors elected to represent residents of Leicester are solving the problem by voting to give themselves a pay rise because this is more financially sensible in times of crisis and financial mismanagement that’s lead to the city becoming insolvent. [Pictured: The scruffy, smug smoker’s smile of our self-serving, criminal Labour mayor, Sir Peter Soulsby]
Instead of investing that pay rise into much needed, vital public services to address rising deprivation, homelessness, underfunding of local schools and childcare settings or food inequality, they have decided that those funds would be better off lining their pockets instead!
Instead of investing in revenue generating projects, to cope with the rising costs that the council have explained they cannot meet which is why they must file for bankruptcy, to offset the costs of public services, Peter Soulsby and his self-serving councillor cronies have decided to put your money in their pocket instead of resolving the financial car crash driven by Peter Soulsby.
Mr Soulsby was deliberately duplicitous, withholding the material information about the state of the city’s finances until after the vote had taken place, because he understands that not all councillors take after him and his antics, who would likely have voted against the pay rise had they been fully informed of the state of the public purse managed by Soulsby and his buddies.
More information can be found on the Leicestershire Live website. This pay rise that Sir Peter Soulsby and his pals in council have voted for comes after a 5% council tax hike levied on all residents living within Leicester City Council’s authority but that’s OK because our council is going straight into the coffers of Soulsby and crew! In no way will the 5% increase in council tax help the struggling public services Soulsby has been diverting funds away from since the first day of his premiership. The Labour-run Council demonstrate time and time again that they don’t care about us. With a whopping salary of nearly £70 thousand per year, Slimy Soulsby isn’t going feel the cost of living crises, even with his own council tax going up but he’ll feel it even less now that him and his buddies have decided to give themselves more of our tax-money instead of supporting public services across the city. It’s one rule for Scummy Soulsby et al. and another rule for every other one of us lowly peasants. Deputy Chair Rhys Brown said, ‘Everybody across Leicester should be outraged that the City Mayor and his Labour councillors are about to vote for their own pay rise again. If the people who were elected to represent us had an ounce of integrity, they would vote against any pay rise whilst the pandemic is still restricting our lives; unfortunately, this is unlikely to be the case.’ and whilst there are pressing issues including homelessness, a lack of social housing, underfunded healthcare, deprived schools and drug addicts littering our streets engaging in antisocial behaviour including being drunk and disorderly in public, consuming their illegal drugs, etc. But this isn’t on Peter Soulsby’s doorstep, or the doorsteps of our councillors who live in their nice big houses in areas of low depravity, I think it is only correct that politicians forgo any self-awarded pay rises until such time they can demonstrate they can govern adequately.
